There are many credit card benefits that most of us are familiar with. Such as interest free days, complimentary travel insurance, fraud protection and so on. 

Then there are some really cool credit card benefits that most of us don't know about. These cool benefits are relevant to today's times, super useful and money savers. 

Ok, now let's start with the cool list:

1. Free bottle of wine

Yep, you read that right, free wine! This has to be proof that some credit card providers listen to the needs of customers hehe. But there is only one provider that gives free wine and that is Citibank. It's offered with their Citibank Dining Program

How do I get a free bottle of wine?

Go to any of the list of restaurants and when you arrive or book mention that you're a Citi card holder. From there, just choose your bottle free bottle of red or white wine.

What are the conditions?

Yes, conditions do apply. The main condition is that you have to spend at least $50 and dine-in only.

Can I use it more than once?

Yes, you can! It's not limited to one time only. You can get a free bottle every time you dine. 


2. Smartphone screen insurance

Again it's American Express that leads the way in cool credit card benefits. We all dread having a cracked screen on our smartphone. Some American Express credit cards cover you up to $500 for screen repairs.

What are the conditions?

The main condition is that you paid for your phone or contract with your credit card.

There's a maximum of 2 claims per year. So do at least avoid cracking your screen no more than twice. Plus, you have to pay a 10% excess payment for each claim.

3. Refund protection

American Express is the only provider that offers refund protection. If a retailer won't refund your unused purchased item in the first 90 days of purchase. Your purchased item must be within Australia.

The maximum reimbursed up to $500 per item purchased in Australia. 

What can't I reimburse?

There are purchase exclusions (page 25) such as no items $50 or less, faulty items, mobile phones, recorded media and more. 


4. Global wi-fi

Ok, there's only one credit card that offers free global wi-fi. That's the 28 Degrees credit card. It's great for the occasional traveler who wants a card with no fees. Because it has no annual fee, no foreign transaction fees and free global wif-fi.

How do I get free wi-fi?

The actual wi-fi provider is Boingo with hotspots globally. Cardholders can register for a free Boingo wi-fi account. 

You can use up to 4 devices for a single Boingo account for Global wifi (value is 14.99 USD per month). 

Which locations can I get wi-fi?

Its free global wi-fi is of premium quality. It's also fast and has more than 1 million hotspots worldwide. Here's a link to the map where you can see all its hotspots worldwide. 


5. Concierge service 24/7

A personal concierge seems like a service reserved only to the wealthy. But that's no longer the case. Now anyone can have access to a personal concierge with the right credit card. The 24/7 concierge services are usually available on rewards credit cards.

When planning a vacation, your concierge can help with booking flights, hotels, car rental and more.  Can even help you purchase tickets to events or shows locally or overseas. Your concierge does the researching and booking work all for you.
